The ancient city of Ayutthaya, or Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, The Thai capital for 417 years, is one of Thailand's major tourist attractions. Many ancient ruins and art works can be seen in a city that was founded in 1350 by King U-Thong when the Thais were forced southwards by northern neighbours. During the period of Ayutthaya being the Thai capital, 33 Kings of different dynasties ruled the kingdom until it was sacked by the Burmese in 1767.

Ayutthaya is 76 kilometers north of Bangkok and boasts numerous magnificent ruins. Such ruins indicate that Ayutthaya was one of Indo - China's most prosperous cities. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya a Historical Park, a vast stretch of historical site in the heart of Ayutthaya city, has been included in UNESCO's list of world heritage since 13 December, 1991.

Wat Phra Chao Phananchoeng is located southeast of Ayutthaya island at the confluence of the Pasak River and the Chao Phraya River.  Wat Phanan Choeng is a busy wat, with many Thai people worshipping there. They reportedly offer worship to the image and obtain predictions of their luck. You will also notice a lot of Chinese characters and writing before entering the main building.   Chinese people name the image 'Sum Poh Kong', which means 'Good Luck in Boating'.

If Britain can be as successful as its European neighbours at attracting tourists from emerging economies, it could boost the economy by £12billion a year by 2025, according to a new report.
A new report into tourism figures shows that Britain will have a tourism industry worth over £257billion by 2025 – which would support more than 3.7million jobs and equal almost 10 per cent of UK GDP.
If bids to increase the number of visitors to the UK from countries like China succeeds, then that forecast could be increased by £69billion by 2025.


The study, conducted by Deloitte for VisitBritain, shows the value of the tourism industry to the UK. It is currently worth £127billion and is set to grow faster than the manufacturing, construction and retail industries.
London in particular will see a boom in visitor numbers and visitor spend, with tourists expecting to contribute £77.4billion to the capital's economy by 2025, which would be 12.8 per cent of the city's GDP.
